HDR Benchmark Model 2022

A CAD model of the HDR benchmark model has been updated 2022.

In all our previous numerical validation simulations of the HDR blowdown, we have used a simple geometric model with only the essential geometric features included, see 2-WAY FSI HDR blowdown and the article:

K. Nilsson, F. Tornberg, "On blowdown analysis with efficient and reliable direct time integration methods for wave propagation and fluid–structure-interaction response ", Computers & Structures, Vol. 216 (2019), pp 1-14

This updated CAD model will be used in CFD, FEA, and FSI simulations of the

  • Validation of the HDR blowdown experiment

  • Validation of the HDR snapback experiments

  • Validation of the HDR dry and wet eigenmodes, in vacuo, in air and in water

  • Fluid structure interaction in seismic response

  • Fluid structure interaction with two-phase flow in break nozzle

  • Fluid structure interaction, separation of flow and vibroacoustic response

  • Fluid structure interaction with a light fluid air/steam blowdown

  • Fluid structure interaction with cold water, single phase blowdown

  • Fluid structure interaction for core barrel integration of horizontal force

  • Fluid structure interaction for reactor pressure vessel horizontal force

All simulations will be performed in the ADINA system, and data will be available for simulations in other CFD, FEA and FSI codes on request.
